AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT
As luck would have it, is a common expression, which is typically used to refer to something that has gone well despite the fact that the circumstances or result was entirely out of one’s control. Life is inherently uncertain and luck presents us with an opportunity to conjure up some sense of control over the uncontrollable. We attempt to control our fortunes through the coercion of objects or rituals. We play with and tempt luck in games of chance, or we hope luck will favor us and blame it when circumstances go awry.
